Flowers and their alternate uses

As my research develops it is revolving more and more around flowers, from my Pinterest boards, right through to my basic fairy research. Therefore I began to look at their alternate uses away from decoration/adornment. The first book I consulted for this was 'The artifice of Beauty' which looked at the historical methods of perfume and cosmetic developments. There was a lot of information on botanical products, from roses through to herbs, and this was useful for visual reference but also to understand the other purposes of these items, what the scents express and could be related to semiotics. The second book I looked at 'Image Makers' was not at all as useful as I had thought, and I found the cover with the use of a flower boa the most inspiring and informative part of the book. As i delve deeper into the research of this unit I feel the first book will be used again when I have identified the kind of natural products I am going to use.
